hope for the family

Andrei - is now five years old and was born profoundly deaf. Traditional external hearing aids are not suitable as the inner ear does not function and the family has been working towards raising money for a cochlear implant. The implant itself costs 18,500 euros, but sponsorship has been obtained to enable the operation and follow up treatment to take place in Szeged, Hungary. He is beginning to hear and recognise sounds and with the aid of speech therapy, will start talking.

Daniel - is six years old and has a problem with an eyelid. Although he can see with the eye, he cannot raise the lid. It is hoped that an operation will correct this.

Medical Aid

Since Hope for the Family started, medical treatment has been provided for individuals where the families have been unable to raise sufficient funds, or where an operation has been assessed as more successful outside of Romania.

Madalena - has several medical problems including epilepsy and a slight deformity in the limbs causing her to walk on her toes with one foot. A hole in the heart has been assessed as being naturally healed. Sponsorship is paid towards medicines and treatment. Theranova, a prosthesis centre, is providing assessments and recommendations to counter the walking problem that could be successful, as she is currently only seven years old.
